Everything you need to know about Single Drive PBS
DrivePBS is a backup solution based on Proxmox Backup Server, hosted on mechanical disks in Europe. Using the proxmox backup client, it allows you to back up your Proxmox virtual machines, containers, and any Linux backup target in an automated and secure way.
DrivePBS starts at EUR 6 excl. tax/month for 250 GB and EUR 12 excl. tax/month for 1 TB, then EUR 12 excl. tax/TB/month up to 10 TB. Beyond 10 TB, degressive pricing on quote.
Client-side encryption is not on by default, you decide — and we always recommend it. Once enabled, your backups are encrypted with AES-256 by proxmox-backup-client before they leave your infrastructure, with a key that stays with you. The option is set in Proxmox VE (Encryption tab of the PBS storage). Only you then hold the encryption key. Keep that key outside the infrastructure you back up: without it, nobody can restore.
All backups are hosted in our own Equinix Paris racks or on servers rented from major French or European hosting companies (such as OVH), which supports your GDPR compliance. No transfer outside the EU by default; hosting in France on request.
By default, we deliver the account without delete permission: it can back up and restore, but cannot erase anything. An attacker or ransomware that takes over your Proxmox VE or servers therefore cannot delete the backups already sent, which limits the impact of a breach on your side. Limits: deletion remains possible if you asked for a datastore administrator account, if we ourselves are breached, or through a security flaw in PBS. PBS snapshots and granular restore to different points in time then let you restore a snapshot taken before the attack. Client-side AES-256 encryption adds an additional layer of protection.
