    Your PBS backups are stored in an Equinix datacenter in France, physically separated from your production. A local disaster never affects your backups. Compliant with the 3-2-1 rule.

    Multi-site geo-replication

    Air-gapped anti-ransomware isolation

    With the AirGapped Drive plan, 2 disks are physically disconnected from the network at all times, with a guaranteed monthly rotation: you keep 2 months of offline backups.     RTO and RPO: understanding recovery objectives

    Two key metrics define your DR plan quality. NimbusBackup helps you achieve your objectives.

    RPO

    Recovery Point Objective

    RPO measures the maximum amount of data you can accept losing. It corresponds to the time between the last backup and the disaster.

    With NimbusBackup:

    • RPO of 1h: backup every hour
    • RPO of 4h: backup 6 times per day
    • RPO of 24h: daily backup

    RTO

    Recovery Time Objective

    RTO measures the maximum acceptable downtime between the disaster and full resumption of operations. Restore time depends on volume and uplink: estimate your restore RTO.

    What the plan determines:

    • Meca disk plans: data online, restore can start immediately
    • Bank vault: 48 to 96 hours of media retrieval before you can begin

    The restore duration adds to that delay and depends on your volume and your bandwidth. We measure it during accompanied tests and hand you the figure: that measurement is the estimate, not a contractual RTO.

    Thanks to PBS native deduplication, incremental backups only transfer modified blocks. You can therefore increase backup frequency (and reduce your RPO) without blowing up your bandwidth or storage.

    A DR (Disaster Recovery) plan for Proxmox is a set of procedures to restore your virtual machines and containers after a disaster (ransomware, fire, hardware failure, human error). It relies on offsite backups via Proxmox Backup Server (PBS), with defined recovery time (RTO) and data loss (RPO) objectives. NimbusBackup supplies the building blocks of that plan: offsite backups, accompanied restore tests and a measured restore duration. We do not commit to a contractual RTO.

    We do not commit to a contractual RTO: restore duration depends on your volume, your bandwidth and the target. What the plan determines is how fast you can reach the data. On Meca disk plans (Single Drive, Double Drive, AirGapped Drive), the data is online and the restore starts immediately. On bank vault plans (Drive Bank, Magnetic Bank), allow 48 to 96 hours of secure media retrieval before you can begin. The restore itself adds to that: we measure it during accompanied tests and hand you the figure.

    Yes, PBS allows granular restoration. You can restore an individual VM, a specific LXC container, or even individual files from a snapshot. Restoring a single VM typically takes between 15 and 30 minutes depending on its size and your bandwidth.

    We recommend quarterly restore tests. The process is simple: restore a test VM from NimbusBackup on an isolated Proxmox node, verify it works properly, then delete it. Our team can assist you with your first tests and provide a compliance report. An untested DR plan is not a reliable DR plan.
